School Bus Route Planner

Plan a school bus route with up to 6 stops. The planner orders the stops from nearest to farthest, works out the travel time for each stop, and gives a clearly labelled fee estimate.

Fee estimate uses a stated rate of Rs. 8 per km and assumes 22 school days per month. It is only an estimate — actual bus fees depend on the school or transport provider.

What Is the School Bus Route Planner?

The School Bus Route Planner helps schools and parents plan a simple bus route. Enter up to 6 stops with their distance from the school and the bus's average speed, and it orders the stops, works out how long the bus takes to reach each stop, and gives a monthly fee estimate based on a stated per-km rate.

How to Use It — Step by Step

  1. Enter at least 2 stops: each stop's name and its distance in km from the school. Leave unused stops blank.
  2. Enter the bus's average speed in km/h (10 to 80).
  3. Press Plan Route. The route order, travel times and fee estimate appear instantly and are also checked on the server.

Worked Example

Stops at 2 km, 4 km and 6 km from school, average speed 30 km/h. Route order: 2 km (4 min), 4 km (8 min), 6 km (12 min). Total route distance = 6 × 2 = 12 km, total time = 12 ÷ 30 × 60 = 24 minutes. Fee estimate = 12 km × Rs. 8/km × 22 days = Rs. 2,112 per month (estimate only).

Formula

Travel Time (minutes) = Distance (km) ÷ Speed (km/h) × 60
Total Distance = 2 × Farthest Stop Distance
Fee Estimate = Total Distance × Rs. 8 per km × 22 school days

FAQs

Why are stops ordered nearest to farthest?

On a simple out-and-back route, picking up the nearest stops first keeps the journey orderly. Real routes may differ because of one-way roads, traffic and turnarounds.

Is the fee estimate the real bus fee?

No, it is only an estimate using a stated rate of Rs. 8 per km and 22 school days a month. The real fee is set by the school or transport provider and may be higher or lower.

Can I plan a route with only one stop?

You need at least 2 stops to plan a route. With one stop, the distance and time are simply that stop's distance divided by the speed.
